Pizza and pasta are the most famous and appreciated dishes of Italian cuisine. Neapolitan pizza has become a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to a collection of signatures from all over the world. In South Korea, on the island of Jeju, the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO met. It is here that Neapolitan pizza has become a cultural heritage to be safeguarded.

HISTORY & ORIGINS of PIZZA:

The types of pizza, artisan or not, that exist today are endless, all you need is a bit of imagination and a good variety of ingredients available. But originally, there were only two variants: white pizza with oil and garlic, Marinara (tomato, oil, garlic, oregano), and Margherita (tomato, mozzarella and oil). The goodness of pizza margherita is undisputed and known to all, but only a few people know the anecdote behind this dish. In the summer of 1889 the King of Italy Umberto I and his wife, Queen Margherita di Savoia, went to Naples on holiday and the queen, intrigued by this dish very popular among the Neapolitans, asked Chef Raffaele Esposito and his wife Rosa to cook for her. The couple prepared a pizza with tomato, mozzarella, and basil to pay homage to the Italian flag. In honor of the queen, who, according to the chronicles of the time, liked the recipe very much, the pizza chef Esposito decided to call her "Margherita".

NUTRITIONAL VALUES:

Neapolitan pizza is a concentrate of beneficial nutrients and should be considered as a unique dish. Many people think that pizza is a very caloric dish, to be eliminated when dieting and, in any case, to be limited in the weekly diet. Let's try to understand more. A traditional Neapolitan pizza margherita weighs, on average, about 270-300 grams, and the weight of the pizza is this way distributed:

  • more than 50% are carbohydrates;

  • 6% fat;

  • 5.5% protein;

Pizza is a perfect dish from a nutritional point of view and should be considered a unique dish because it guarantees the right amount of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Its main ingredients give the pizza unique nutritional properties:

  • the flour provides complex carbohydrates, but also minerals and B vitamins, as well as protein;

  • the tomato is rich in lycopene, a precious antioxidant that gives to this vegetable its red color;

  • extra virgin olive oil provides "good" fats and antioxidants;

RECIPE & INGREDIENTS:

For the dough of an artisan pizza you need 500 grams of white flour, 250 milliliters of water, 15 grams of yeast, oil and salt. Dissolve the yeast in a little water at room temperature. Pour the flour and salt into a bowl. Add the water and yeast a little, mixing the ingredients well and kneading until you obtain a homogeneous mixture. Add the oil and knead for a few more minutes. You will obtain a soft and smooth dough: put it in a container, cover it with a towel and let it rise for about three hours at about 26-28 degrees. Roll out the dough and put the pizza in a hot oven at 220 degrees for about 20 minutes. Then, add the toppings as you like!

THE MOST DELIVERED FOOD:

The coronavirus emergency has highlighted the strategic value of digital in many sectors and the importance of adequate tools and connections for the business continuity of companies, but also for the social life of people. Among the sectors that most of all have highlighted the importance of the online world, there is certainly food delivery, especially given the closure to the public of restaurants during the lockdown. Pizza is the undisputed queen that conquers international hearts and palates and is the most orderly "kitchen" in food delivery in the world. In second place in the international ranking are the burgers, followed by Chinese, Indian cuisine and Italian cuisine. In order to make home delivery even easier, applications and websites are created that shorten the distance between the person who orders and the person who delivers, thanks to the strong communication of the internet has become very easy to order any type of food in a couple of clicks. The advantages are obvious and remarkable; the perfect combination for those who want to stay at home and enjoy some special dishes, a valid alternative to taste new dishes at home or even an excellent alternative for those who, in the office, always eat at the usual restaurant. For all this, the answer is food delivery. Why not order a pizza to share with your colleagues for your lunch break at the office? You don't even have to worry about your favorite drink because, on request, it can be added to your order. Therefore, considering the delivery service offered, the small additional cost that is added to the price of the pizza is not comparable to the extreme convenience received in return.
